At what age are you too young to drink coffee?

ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) – Tuesday’s TRY social dilemma came from Jake. He wants to know if his son is too young to drink coffee.

Hi Jaime. I know you face a social dilemma every day and I hope you can read mine on the radio. I recently caught a lot of flak for letting my son do something that I never thought was a big deal, and I still don’t. But I wanted to know what you and your gang thought. On the first day of sports training camp for my nine-year-old son, I post the obligatory first day photo on facebook. But ours was different. I had taken my son for breakfast for his first day. In the photo, he was drinking coffee. It’s all… just drinking coffee. Well, after posting this, you would have thought I was an awful dad. I got so many responses from people saying I shouldn’t give a child coffee, it was bad parenting, I was teaching them to get addicted to caffeine at a young age and more. My parents gave me coffee when I was a child and I pass on the tradition. I don’t think there is anything wrong with that. I look forward to hearing what others think. I don’t think I’m the only one doing this. Please help me. Thank you very much. I love listening to you

For me, I remember my mom used to give me coffee when I was a kid, but she drank it black so it wasn’t appealing to me at all. It wasn’t really until after school, when I got a job, that I started drinking coffee. I think those are good points about caffeine, but I don’t know if it’s that bad.

What do you think? Is Jake a bad dad or is it okay for a nine year old to drink coffee? Let’s help him and let me know TRY the Facebook page.
