Do you think it’s okay to lie about your age?

ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) – Today’s 98.3 TRY social dilemma comes from Gary, and it’s about lying about your age. Here is his email:

Hi Jaime. I have a question for your dilemma. Why do people lie about their age? When my mother passed away a few years ago, we had no idea how old she really was, because she would never tell anyone her age on her birthday. According to my father, she was 39 for about 50 years. Of course, when she passed away, we finally found out her real age, but I never understood why she was lying about it. My wife feels very comfortable saying her age, as do I. But I have friends who won’t say how old they are. I thought we were past all that nonsense, but apparently not. So I’m just curious, are there more people lying about their age than not? And what is the reason? I can’t wait to hear. Thank you I like

~Gary

It’s interesting. I don’t usually tell my age to people I don’t know, but my family and close friends all know my age. I’ve had people judge me differently when they heard my age, so I guess in that regard, I get it, but I would never hide it from my family or friends. I will say this is a landmark year for me, so I will celebrate. And you? Let’s help Gary. Do you hide your age from anyone? Are there friends and family members who have no idea of your real age? ·

Have you ever lied to someone about your age and then, when you got to know them better, never told them the truth? Let me know on the TRY the Facebook page.
