ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) – Tuesday’s 98.3 TRY social dilemma came from Amy and it’s all about hanging out with friends.

Hi Jaime. I have a dilemma that has to do with friends and money. I’m all for taking a friend on their birthday, but I’m tired of paying for everyone’s good time. See I’m not a heavy drinker so every time we go out I just drink soda or water while my friends order cocktail after cocktail so when we split the bill I end up paying a lot. more than I should. But on the last birthday outing, I finally spoke up. The place was expensive and the drinks were quite expensive so when the bill came I told them since I hadn’t been drinking I’m just going to put my share and a few extra dollars for the birthday girl. Well everyone’s moods changed and things got awkward really quickly. Later when I got home a friend of mine texted me saying I was out of place and ruined the night and should have paid. But I still don’t think I did anything wrong. Should I have shut up and paid my equal share? How could I have handled it otherwise? Thank you

~ Amy

Well I have to say that as a non drinker I have encountered this problem before but for me. I just split the bill. I guess there are times when I order food that’s more expensive than anyone else, so it probably ends up balancing out, especially if it’s friends you hang out with all the time. . But it’s just me.

What do you think? Would you split the bill evenly or do what Amy did? Let’s help her and let me know on the TRY Facebook page.
